It's not about wanting. It's 'couse the tour will cost a lot of money and we need someone to pay our flying tickets, hotelrooms, food, etc...

Hello, greetings from the hole known as Sheboygan...
I just discovered Depressed Mode a day ago and bought both releases.
I am really happy that I did,I am really into your music, like Shape Of Despair, this hit me like a brick wall and I was instantly addicted.
My question for you is this,I am wondering what gives you inspiration for the lyrics and music that you create. Some of it sounds very personal and heart felt,I am just curious. What ever it is,it must be pretty powerful to help in the creation process of such wonderful music.

Infact the inspiration flows from our everyday life. The mistakes we make. A little happiness might pop out sometimes.
The process itself may be a little painfull with the lyrics, so it always takes a lot of time. The music itself is easyer to compose. I often use metaphors with some words and phrases.

Greetings, im new here, and enjoy the music guys. I already broke the forum rules and started my own topic... sorry, so i am reposting here. I am a musician and have a couple questions that i would love to get feedback on. (please excuse the grammar)
I'm aware that you do not have a live keyboard player as you have all the synth/keys sequenced. And that is what my questions are based around.

*So I would love to know if you are running pro-tools with audio tracks as the final product. Or if you use hardware keyboards with internal sequencers running all the pre-recorded midi.

*do you do all the work for a score on one particular workstation or software or do you go through a process of importing midi files from keyboard to computer running your favorite vst's or internal sounds(hardware) etc.

*How much of your orchestrations are step-recorded? I notice that some of the clean piano on certain tracks seems to have a very constant velocity. I only ask this for my future personal music projects: if having keyboard parts not 100% snapped or quantized to the grid is such a big deal.

Thanks again, like i said im a fan of the music and am looking for some feedback on how i too can bring my music to life in a live scenario. You can reply at my personal e-mail if you don not feel like posting your reply here.

Hey Matthew!

Keyboards are all recorded/composed by me. Some of the parts are step-recorded and some are not.
Anyway, all the synth parts are recorded as midi. That's because I am able to control the velocity of the parts, cause some are meant to be more on front.. as you said Smile
After the midi's are recorded, I search for different kind's of sounds (vst) and run the midi's through them.

In the live situations, we use currently an MD (mini-disc) player. We are planning to use a Laptop with an external sound-device so we are able to run the background tapes as stereo.
So now our setup is; stereo channel with right channel as a metronome, and left channel to the mixingboard to audience.

I, Myself use Cubase 5 atm, but we used Sonar in the studio with our latest album.

Hope u got the information u needed!

Yes, I am oh so familiar with the vague and seemingly meaningful names of garage bands. I once dated a guy in a band named pippeli pomppeli pitkin porrii Exit. At first it sounds almost cool because of the consonance, but it means nothing and is just lame. Their lyrics were just as bad. We didnt last that long. But I still have the CD, it makes a great story
